Dragons' Den

Today 6th class had to pitch their small-business ideas to our Dragons (Mark, a local businessman; Joanne, Junior Entrepreneur project manager; and Ms. Finnegan).
The boys and girls presented their plans and answered some pretty tough questions regarding their research and costings from the Dragons.
All the propositions were well-researched and prepared. The Dragons were very impressed, not only with the ideas but also the confidence of the children in explaining their product.
In the end, "Frame-it" was chosen to be our class product; with the recommendation that artistic elements from some of the other ideas be incorporated.

Creative homework

Our homework assignment last Thursday was to create something and present it to other classes. Here are some photos of 6th class and their creations.

monopoly is a game that 1 to 8 people can play .you can get other monopoly games this is the man united one. I brought in to play with my friends . the rules are if you land on a player you can buy him if you have the money just to say ronaldo is 240 pounds
so if you land on home you get a home card if you land on away you get a away card
i have this game 2 years i hope you had in joyed this information thank you.

I brought in Scattegories, How you play this is you all get a page with three columns, then you role a dice with letters on it and lets say you land on D then you have a list with different questions e.g Famous women, things that are cold, TV shows there are 12 questions. Then at the end of the round you all correct your answers and none of you can have the same answers. Then you add up all the points and see who won.

Today me and the people at desk played Monopoly Disney and Pixar Edition. it's just like regular Monopoly only with characters and themes from popular kids movies. How you play it is everyone starts with €1,500 and then you go around the board buying appliances and making more money.

Friday fun!

We get oral language homework every Thursday; and this week we had to play board games at home.
Some of 6TH. class brought in games to share with their group; they had to explain the rules and play the game with their classmates; a nice end to our first week back!

I brought in "Headbanz". To play the game you have get a headband and put it on your head. Without looking, place a card in the little slot on the headband. Everyone takes it in turns to ask a question. Such as 'am I an animal?', 'am I edible?', 'can I be worn?'. When you guess the answer right you can get a different card from the pile.

My board game is called Labyrinth. It is a game where you have to find treasure in a maze, but the maze is constantly moving and changing! One moment there might be a straight path to your treasure but in one move you might be trapped in a walls! The winner is the player that finds all their treasure first. We all really enjoyed playing this game and I would highly recommend anyone to play it.

I brought in "The Big Bang Theory" Cluedo board game. It's like normal Cluedo except it has little twists from the show. Its board  players and items are all different. It's about a character called Sheldon who has been betrayed by one of his friends and you need to find out who, the place and the act of betrayal.
I really enjoyed playing it.

The game I brought in was a game called "Tipping Point".
This is a quiz game where if you get a question you put a counter in to the machine in hope of winning                                                                       money. I like this game.

An unusual entrepreneur!

Grumpy Cat Has Earned Her Owner Nearly $100 Million In Just 2 Years

(6th class, here is an online article about "Grumpy Cat" we talked about in class today; as well some fantastic words for you to look up!)
With a relentless look of malevolence, Grumpy Cat is not exactly cute.

But the piercing stare and air of withering contempt have proved astonishingly lucrative for the cat’s owner, Tabatha Bundesen of Morristown, Arizona.

In just two years the cat — whose real name is Tardar Sauce — has made $99.5 million from an array of products, including best-selling books and a film.

Not surprisingly, Bundesen believes her pet is "unstoppable."

"I was able to quit my job as a waitress within days of her first appearance on social media, and the phone simply hasn't stopped ringing since."

Grumpy's earnings have dwarfed those of many of Hollywood's biggest names, such as Gwyneth Paltrow who, according to Forbes magazine, earned just over $18.6 million last year.

The cat is also outstripping the world’s top footballers including Christiano Ronaldo, whose total remuneration this year is estimated at $42.2 million.

Grumpy's permanent scowl is a result of her having been born with dwarfism and an underbite.

She became an internet superstar after Bundesen's brother posted a picture online.

Her fame spread rapidly especially once she was taken up by Ben Lashes — an "internet cat" agent.

The frown has proved irresistible on social media for 521,000 followers on Instagram and 255,000 on Twitter.

There have been a line of products including a brand of iced coffee, called Grumppuccino, and the cat is also "the face" of Friskies.

Last year the curmudgeonly cat appeared on the front pages of The Wall Street Journal and New York Magazine.

Grumpy’s big-screen debut is coming soon. The film "Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever" has been billed as a cross between "Home Alone" and "Die Hard."
